National Night Out Block Party at Providence on Aug. 5
Free event combines neighborhood unity, crime prevention, law enforcement partners

A fun and educational evening is planned to raise crime prevention awareness, strengthen neighborhood spirit and unity, and foster community-law enforcement partnerships. The third annual free National Night Out Block Party at Providence will be Tuesday, Aug. 5 from 6 pm. to 8 p.m. at Knickerbocker Park in the Providence master planned community. The park is located at 10695 Dorrell Lane, north of the I-215 Beltway and Hualapai Way exit.

The National Night Out Block Party at Providence will feature exhibits, information and demonstrations from area first responders, plus emergency vehicles to see, touch and explore. Participants include the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s (Metro) Northwest Area Command, Traffic Bureau and Air Support; Las Vegas Fire and Rescue; Nevada Department of Public Safety; and Zero Fatalities.

Amazing Clowns will provide a 1950’s fire engine, and the Providence Master Homeowners Association will oversee a large-scale version of the classic “Red Light – Green Light” game. The PMHA will share information about the P.A.R.T. Campaign – Prevent Any Road Tragedy – a local traffic safety campaign aimed at reducing the number of fatalities and injuries on community roadways and thoroughfares.

Activities also will include a large obstacle course and slide, video games from Game Truck of Las Vegas, volleyball, soccer, and P.D., the Providence dog mascot. Target is providing free popsicles and water, and other treats will be available for sale from vendors including Engine One Pizza.

National Night Out events are held annually throughout the country. The National Night Out Block Party at Providence is presented by the Providence Master Homeowners Association and Providence Master Planned Community, and is one of the few such events open to the public in northwest Las Vegas.
