APDA ANNUAL OPTIMISM WALKS TO HELP PARKINSON DISEASE PAITENTS

To help “Ease the Burden and Find the Cure” for Parkinson disease, the American Parkinson Disease Association, Inc, (APDA), is conducting its Annual Optimism Walks event for Parkinson disease on Saturday, April 12, 2014. The Southern Nevada Optimism Walks will take place in the Craig Ranch Regional Park, 628 West Craig Road, North Las Vega, Nevada, beginning at 9:00am.

This event is very important to raise national awareness of the disease, as well as raise funds for research and the APDA Information and Referral Center network. Every local Optimism Walk helps to bring us closer to a cure for this debilitating disease.

Optimism Walks will take place in approximately thirty (30) cities nationwide. Parkinson disease currently affects more than one million people in the United States alone, and money raised from this event will help bring medical researchers closer to finding a cure, as well as support the many PD patients and caregivers through the APDA Information & Referral Center network. The goal for this year’s Optimism Walks campaign is to raise more than one million dollars.

Anyone interested in participating, by walking, running or sponsoring the event, should contact the APDA Southern Nevada Chapter via telephone at 702-464-3132 or email at [email protected].

The Optimism Walks campaign is a great way for both the Parkinson patients and the general community to get out for a day of fun and exercise while spreading awareness. It’s important to remember that we are closer to finding a cure for Parkinson and every effort counts in this battle.

The Southern Nevada Chapter of the American Parkinson Disease Association, Inc. currently provides support to Parkinson patients and caregivers in the Southern Nevada area. Anyone interested in becoming affiliated with the organization is encouraged to call the local office or the national APDA headquarters in New York at 1-800-223-APDA (2732).
