A tornado comes to Las Vegas

Published on Sun, Mar 23, 2014 (11:50 a.m.)

Volunteer Coordinator Matt Deighton and Greensburg resident Gary Goodman will arrive in Las Vegas this week (Sunday) for Cinema Con. Both residents and survivors of the 2007 EF5 tornado that wiped Greensburg off the map are in town talking with vendors and motion picture icons to seek donations to help finish the historic Twilight Theatre that was destroyed in the small Kansas farming town. Bringing with them homemade cinnamon rolls from a 92 yo lady as a thank you to be given to JBL speakers for their donation, and also hand written thank you notes from 3 year old to 89 year old residents. "It's our way of saying thank you, and it's our way to pay it forward by thanking these folks." says Matt Deighton who ran the Twilight's projectors in the summer months when in high school in the late 70s. Matt is also bringing copies of his book titles; Molly and the Tornado; a book that shares 3 years of the towns rebuilding in 28 full color pages. The kids book is sweeping across tornado alley and other places that seek to find a "pay it forward" in life.

Matt and Gary arrive in Vegas late Sunday eve until late week.
