HealthCare Partners Durango Pediatrics Receives Silver Syringe Award for Outstanding Immunization Rates

LAS VEGAS (Feb. 25, 2014) – HealthCare Partners Nevada Pediatrics, a leading group of pediatric providers in Southern Nevada, announced Healthcare Partners Durango Pediatrics was recently honored with a Silver Syringe Award. The award given by the Southern Nevada Immunization & Health Coalition (SNIHC), in partnership with the Nevada State Immunization Program, acknowledges the clinic’s outstanding immunization rates.

SNIHC is a diverse group of engaged members working to promote health and improve immunization rates in Southern Nevada. Each year, the organization presents the Silver Syringe Awards to practices throughout the valley for their commitment to improving the health of residents through immunization.

HealthCare Partners Durango Pediatrics was one of only 19 practices in Southern Nevada to receive a Silver Syringe Award. The Silver Syringe Award celebrates the efforts of physicians and the staff at the facility to ensure that their youngest and most vulnerable patients are fully immunized by age 2.

“Our staff is dedicated to supporting the families we serve and giving infants the recommended vaccines on time,” said Dr. Muriel DeSimone, lead physician at HealthCare Partners Durango Pediatrics. “This is the best way to protect them from 14 serious childhood diseases, like whooping cough and measles, and it is an honor to be recognized.”

HealthCare Partners Durango Pediatrics also participates in the federally funded Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program. VFC helps provide vaccines to children whose parents or guardians might not be able to afford them. The clinic was also recognized as a VFC Program Provider of Excellence.

“As a VFC provider, HealthCare Partners Durango Pediatrics is helping to reduce the barriers to immunization and improve Nevada’s rates,” said Stacey Gross, manager of SNIHC. “Young children rely on the responsible adults in their lives to keep them safe and healthy and we thank all of SNIHC’s partners that have championed this important cause.”
