Community invited to 'Crawl the Colon' during Nationwide Tour's only Las Vegas Stop at Symphony Park

Nationwide 2013 Crawl the Colon Exhibit in Las Vegas for One Day Only, Part of Ambulatory Surgical Center of Southern Nevada Health Awareness Community Event

The Colossal Colon®, a 40-foot long, 4-foot tall oversized model of the human colon Stops at The Smith Center’s Donald W. Reynolds Symphony Park October 12 to Educate Nevadans about Colorectal Cancer and Digestive Diseases

WHO: Ambulatory Surgical Center of Southern Nevada in partnership with the Nevada Colon Cancer Partnership, American Cancer Society and Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America together with other community partners, will host this special event to raise awareness about the second leading cause of cancer deaths in men and women combined in the United States as well as other digestive diseases of the colon and the preventative and diagnostic medical options available. Special guest speakers include:
● City of Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman ● Colon cancer survivors

WHAT: The health awareness event will include the Colossal Colon®, an all-inclusive, interactive, 40-foot-long, 4-foot-tall, crawl-through replica of the human colon designed to educate everyone about the various diseases of the colon and that colorectal cancer can happen to anyone at any age. The Colossal Colon® exhibit is free and open to the public and includes examples of healthy colon tissue, several non-cancerous diseases of the colon, polyps, and various stages of colorectal cancer as well as several other activities:
● Colonoscopy simulator ● Free Fecal Immunochemical Test (must qualify)
● Mascot Captain Colon photo booth ● Foreign body retrieval ● Music ● Food

WHEN: Saturday, October 12, 2013
11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

WHERE: Donald W. Reynolds Symphony Park at The Smith Center for Performing Arts
