(Las Vegas) – WestCare, a non-profit organization founded in Nevada 40 years ago, is launching a long-term renovation project of its Women and Children’s Campus, which will completely update the facility to better serve the parenting women and children, along with the female U.S Veterans and their children, who call it home.

The entire Women and Children’s facility, which encompasses over 30,000 square feet, will be rehabilitated during a project expected to last the remainder of the year. Exterior and interior painting, the courtyard, meeting rooms, resident wings and more will be updated, including the installation of new furniture and equipment.

“I cannot think of a more deserving institution than WestCare’s Women and Children’s Campus,” said longtime Las Vegas supporter John Moran, who recently received the Las Vegas Key to the City for his never-ending support of WestCare and its programs. “The tremendous work they do to help individuals and families in our community is what makes me proud to be a supporter.”

The Women and Children’s Campus is a recipient of the Home Depot Foundation “Celebration of Service” Grant for 2013, greatly due to its programs and support of veterans and their families. Beginning on October 30th, 2013, local Home Depot associates will donate building materials, supplies and free labor to help renovate the Female Veterans Families wing of the facility. This marks the second time the Women and Children’s Campus was awarded a grant from The Home Depot Foundation, with the first being in 2004, to update the playground and other areas.

“This campus has served thousands of Las Vegas valley women and children over the years, and it's deeply gratifying to accept this generous funding from Home Depot, allowing the great work to continue in this building for years to come," said WestCare Chief Executive Officer Richard Steinberg.

The Crossing Church and SHARE, a local Las Vegas nonprofit organization, are also assisting with the renovation of the building. They will mobilize close to 500 volunteers for an "extreme makeover" day to be held on October 19th, 2013.

The WestCare Nevada Women and Children’s Campus is accepting cash and Home Depot gift card donations.
