Vegas Play of the Day: Western Illinois at Akron

Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point. Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.

Akron minus-10.5 vs. Western Illinois: $550 to win $500 : Akron, who has early-season victories against big conference schools Southern California and South Carolina, will overwhelm Western Illinois.

Akron has scored more than 70 points in its past three games. Western Illinois, on the other hand, struggles for points in ranking 311th out of 320 teams in field goal percentage. They are 205th nationally in points scored.

Also, Western Illinois has a 0-2 record in road games, losing by 34 points in its last road game, at William & Mary. Akron is a perfect 2-0 at home.
