Following the conclusion of the July leg of the World Series of Poker Main Event, there appeared to be some confusion about payouts both on this site's comment board and on various poker blogs.
WSOP communications director Seth Palansky confirmed today that the "November Nine" final table all received ninth place payouts of $1,263,602 on July 15.
Those final nine will return to the Rio in November to compete for a gold bracelet and up to $8.5 million.
The players finishing in eighth place and above will receive the difference owed to them plus the interested accrued on the remaining $15,847,250.
This year's field of 6,494 players competed for a total prize pool of $61,043,600. The top 648 players in the $10,000 buy-in tournament finished in the money with a minimum prize of $21,365.
The total payouts for the final nine are as follows:
1st Place: $8,546,435
2nd Place: $5,182,601
3rd Place: $3,479,485
4th Place: $2,502,787
5th Place: $1,953,395
6th Place: $1,587,133
7th Place: $1,404,002
8th Place: $1,300,228
9th Place: $1,263,602

Just remember to pay your taxes so your net is around 750K for 9th.
Why do they hold the final table later in the year it must be for the benefit of the broadcast company, If you were in the final nine say middle in chips and for some reason became unable to return then you have lost equity because you would be chipped down.
Or my god forbid but what if one of them died and they were the chip leader.
It just seems to be unfair to the players with the money invested or earned to have to wait because the broadcast company wants them to, so they can fit it in to there schedule, How much money is the broadcast company paying these guys to wait.
