Sophomore forward Billy White did not play for San Diego State on Tuesday night against BYU, but at least the Green Valley High graduate has been walking without crutches.
That’s not minor after White hyperextended his left knee in the first minute of Saturday’s defeat at New Mexico. White returned to the sideline at The Pit on crutches.
A Monday morning MRI revealed no cartilage or ligament damage in White’s knee. The 6-foot-8 lefty has connected on his past 19 field goals for the Aztecs.
White, wearing a knee brace, attended Monday’s practice but did not participate. The Aztecs lost, 69-59, to the Cougars on Tuesday in San Diego.
Senior point guard Richie Williams sprained a knee earlier this month and returned four days later. Dr. Christopher Behr, SDSU’s team physician, said White’s injury is more severe than Williams’s.
