MGM Mirage names Rood to head race and sports books

MGM Mirage has named Jay Rood as its new race and sports book director, effective June 24, company officials announced. Rood will replace 22-year industry veteran Robert Walker, who is retiring.

Rood, who had been the director of the race and sports book at Mandalay Bay since 2005, will oversee operations at all 12 MGM Mirage race and sports books, including 10 in Las Vegas and two in Reno.
