Those pins have fallen and they're not getting up.
Michael Haugen Jr. strung together five strikes down the stretch to rally from a 52-pin defecit in the seventh frame en route to a stunning 215-214 victory over Chris Barnes in the finals of the PBA Tour's H&R Block Tournament of Champions at Red Rock Lanes Sunday morning.
It was the first PBA major victory for Haugen and the second title of his 14-year professional career. Barnes missed a routine 10-pin spare in the ninth frame, opening the door for Haugen's remarkable comeback.
"I never expected a player like that to miss a 10-pin," Haugen, of Cave Creek, Ariz., said after pocketing the $50,000 first-place check. "But then, this is the T of C. Anything is possible."
