WY-OHHH!

The UNLV men’s basketball team was lucky to escape with a 78-71 victory against Wyoming at the Thomas & Mack Center Wednesday night.

The Lady Rebels, on the other hand, forget to pack a bag for Houdini.

The women were beaten 87-39 at Laramie. It was the worst Mountain West Conference loss in the history of the program.

The Lady Rebels shot just 21 percent from the field against the 18th-ranked Cowgirls, who improved to 17-1. Two Lady Rebels were injured just trying to say Justyna Podziemska, much less guard her. The 6-foot-2 Wyoming star from Poland scored 19 points and pulled down 11 rebounds.

After inheriting a program that had won just four games in each of the three seasons before she arrived, Regina Miller rebuilt it virtually overnight, guiding the Lady Rebels to eight consecutive winning seasons. But UNLV slipped to 14-15 last season and is 6-11 this year and Miller and athletic director Mike Hamrick don’t always see eye-to-eye so ...

... now might be a pretty good time for a coach who has won a lot of basketball games here to start winning a few more.
