Former UNLV center Hamga to enroll at Valparaiso

Former UNLV center Beas Hamga, who left Lon Kruger's program following the fall semester, plans to enroll this week at Valparaiso, according to the Northwest Indiana and Illinois Times.

Hamga was most recently in Piscataway, N.J., visiting Rutgers, after visiting South Carolina last weekend. He had also been considering Mississippi, though he never made the trip to Oxford for a visit.

"I really like the (Valparaiso) coaching staff and I feel comfortable with them," Hamga told the paper. "I like the chance to come in and play right away."

Hamga will be eligible to play for the Crusaders following the conclusion of the fall semester in the next scholastic year. He played in five games this season for the Rebels (13-3 overall, 1-1 Mountain West) before his transfer. He tallied five points, four rebounds and two blocked shots in 26 total minutes played.

The 7-footer who two years ago was ranked as a five-star recruit by Rivals.com will be reunited with current VU freshman guard Logan Jones. The two were teammates on the AAU circuit, playing for the Indiana Elite.

Valparaiso, who competes in the Horizon League, is 5-12 this season, fell on Saturday at home to Wright State, 64-48.
