Hoops assistant Hill resting at home, won’t go to New Mexico

UNLV assistant basketball coach Lew Hill was released from Sunrise Hospital on Thursday night but he will not travel to New Mexico for a Saturday night game.

Hill did not attend practice Friday morning in the Cox Pavilion auxiliary gym, but he is expected to resume his coaching duties and be in his Thomas & Mack Center office Monday.

Reached at his home Friday afternoon, Hill was drowsy from medication but happy to be out of the hospital.

Hill, 43, left the arena late Tuesday night, after UNLV’s overtime defeat to San Diego State, wearing an oxygen mask on a stretcher after feeling some chest discomfort.

He passed a battery of tests, which included a Thursday angiogram that showed no blockages, leaks or other inconsistencies.

The Rebels (17-5, 5-3 in the Mountain West Conference) play the Lobos (14-9, 5-3) at 6 p.m. on Saturday. New Mexico has beaten UNLV in three of their past four games at The Pit.
