Assistant hoops coach Hill recuperating in hospital

UNLV assistant basketball coach Lew Hill is expected to be released from a local hospital today or Thursday.

Hill, 43, was wheeled from the Thomas & Mack Center on a stretcher late Tuesday night after the Rebels lost an overtime game to San Diego State. He was conscious and taking oxygen.

There were no more details about what happened to him and several players did not know that Hill had been taken to a hospital.

UNLV released a statement Wednesday morning stating that Hill was undergoing diagnostic testing and that results had, so far, been normal. No further information would be available until additional testing is completed and Hill is released.

In the statement, Hill said he appreciates everyone’s thoughts and concerns, and he’s looking forward to returning to the Rebels.
