Adams, Banks on MWC’s 10th Anniversary Team

The Mountain West Conference on Monday released its Men's Basketball 10th Anniversary Team, with Marcus Banks and Wink Adams being UNLV's two representatives on the 10-man squad.

The list included ...

-Lee Cummard, G/F, BYU (2005-present)

-Jason Smith, F, Colorado State (2004-07)

-Ruben Douglas, G, New Mexico (2000-03)

-Danny Granger, F, New Mexico (2003-05)

-Brandon Heath, G, San Diego State (2003-07)

-Wink Adams, G, UNLV (2005-present)

-Marcus Banks, G, UNLV (2001-03)

-Andrew Bogut, C, Utah (2003-05)

-Marcus Bailey, F, Wyoming (1999-2003)

-Josh Davis, F/C, Wyoming (1999-2002)

The team was selected by a combined panel of media, institutional and conference personnel and an on-line fan poll. In order to be eligible for consideration, the candidates must have been selected as First Team All-MWC performers at least once in their careers.

Banks, a former NBA first-round pick who is entering his sixth pro season, now with the Miami Heat, scored 18.1 points per game in two seasons with the Rebels, including a 20.3 ppg average in 2002-03. He also led UNLV in assists and steals in each of his two campaigns.

Adams enters his senior season for Lon Kruger's club as the school's 14th all-time leading scorer with 1,432 career points. He has a very legitimate shot at finishing his UNLV career as the school's second all-time leading scorer behind just Eddie Owens. As a junior last season, he averaged 16.9 ppg as the Rebels made their second consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, falling in the second round to eventual National Champion Kansas.

His scoring numbers have jumped each season he's been at UNLV, as has his free throw percentage. Last year, Adams posted an 84.8 percent mark at the stripe, tying him for the seventh-best single season number in school history.
