Rebels still looking to fill safety slot, hosting DeGiacomo, two others

In the wake of losing out on former Palo Verde star Jarrell Harrison earlier this week, the UNLV football program is moving right along in trying to add another junior college safety prospect. That process kicks into gear this weekend.

Among three prospects the Rebels' coaching staff will host is Alex DeGiacomo, a 6-foot-1, 200-pound safety from El Camino (Calif.) College.

Harrison, who signed with the Rebels as a quarterback out of Palo in 2005 but failed to qualify academically, chose to attend Missouri on Tuesday afternoon.

DeGiacomo would be a mid-year transfer if he decides to come to UNLV. His visit this weekend comes on the heels of a trip to see Kansas State a week ago.

He'll be bringing a teammate along, too, as the Rebels are also checking out Sean Enesi, a 6-foot, 285-pound offensive line prospect.

Rounding out the visiting crew is Brandon Babineaux, a 6-foot-4, 195-pound receiver who is currently a senior at Folsom (Calif.) High in the Sacramento area. He's in the same mold of current UNLV wideout Phillip Payne, who caught 29 passes for 436 yards and a team-high seven touchdowns in nine games this year for the 5-7 Rebels.
