Rougeau named Mountain West Conference Player of the Week

3 in a row over UNR

Paced by Rene Rougeau's 19 points, UNLV beat UNR for the third straight time, 64-57, Saturday night in Reno.

On the heels of maybe the best game of his collegiate career, UNLV senior swingman René Rougeau on Monday was named the Mountain West Conference's Player of the Week.

After the Rebels dropped home games to California and Cincinnati on back-to-back days last week, Rougeau was a driving force in UNLV's sweep of two road contests.

Saturday night in a 64-57 victory at UNR, Rougeau scored a team-high 19 points, which also tied a career best. His 13 rebounds were a new personal best. The Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., native also had two assists and two steals in the effort.

He was also key in UNLV's 82-76 triumph at Fresno State three days earlier. Over the two-game stretch, he averaged 15.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.

For the season, he's averaging 10.0 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.0 blocks, 1.7 assists and 1.3 steals per contest.
