A letter last week to Nevada Republican Party Chairman Michael McDonald suggests Dave Buell, who filed papers to divorce the state party, should be ousted from the central committee.
McDonald refused to comment.
The letter, which I have posted at right, indicates, despite comments to the contrary from McDonald and Buell, that this separation is far from amicable.
By the way, I understand the RNC lawyers think the Oklahoma counsel is full of hooey on this issue.

Outsourcing to an Okie Attorney, don't we have enough attorneys in Nevada?
Jon, are you so desperate for political news that you have to make things up? Where, in the letter you posted to McDonald from his attorney, does it say "Buell should be ousted from the central committee?" Where?
The attorney, Mr. Ferate, thinks that a subtle name change and non-identical boards are a good idea because those steps could defuse potential questions from the FEC. On the other hand, Mr. Ralston "understands" that attorneys for the RNC think this is a lot of "hooey".
Perhaps before posting this story, Mr. Ralston should have actually talked to Mr. McDonald and Mr. Farate to determine if McDonald asked Mr. Ferate to check into this matter, or Mr. Ferate did this on his own as a concerned citizen.
It also would have been good reporting to get an official response from the RNC attorneys as to why they don't agree with Mr. Ferate.
Finally, from my reading of the letter, it appears that one of Mr. Ferate's concerns could be addressed by Mr. Buell remaining on the WCRP Central Committee, but not be "in charge" of the new PAC. In my opinion, the headline is overly harsh, especially in the light of the fact that the RNC attorneys don't think that Mr. Buell's role is an issue.
Reno_Dave: It turns out that there is no letter from RNC attorneys. Mr. Ralston's "Hooey" comment comes from the mouths of the callow punks that are assisting Romney's Nevada state director in running the Romney campaign here - not from any RNC lawyers. These two brash youngsters are paranoid about "Paul people" and are convinced that these "Paul people" are running the Nevada Republican Party ("NRP") and are still against Romney. Since these peons are visitors from the East, they haven't figured-out the difference between the Clark County Republican Party ("CCRP") and the NRP. The CCRP board is headed and controlled by former "Paul people" but the state party currently has only 3 identifiable former "Paul people" on its 12 member Exec. Board and one of them is the Clark County Chair.
So, as usual, Ralston's rage can be written off because it's based on bad, unverified information garnered from bozos and fed by his personal hatred of Chairman Michael McDonald. Bottom line - McDonald has an opinion letter from a capable FEC lawyer and the people who leaked this non-sense to Ralston have bupkis.
