The state GOP gave up on same-day caucus registration to try to cut into the 65,000-voter Democratic Party edge. That seemed dumb. But now the party folks have unveiled their secret weapon: Gov. Brian Sandoval, who is urging folks in a "Dear Fellow Nevadan" letter to register Republican.
The letter, saying "It's a New Day in Nevada," contains the most tepid, boiler-plate rhetoric that seems unlikely to persuade anyone to register Republican. (It's also going to GOP households, too, which seems redundant.) All it really has going for it: The governor's smiling face and the goodwill that radiates.
Maybe that will be enough, Democrats. He sure is friendlier than Harry Reid.
