In a statement teeming with conservative shibboleths, Rep. Dean Heller announced his candidacy this morning for U.S. Sen. John Ensign's seat in an email to supporters. Heller has been widely expected to run since he released a poll a few weeks ago showing him crushing Ensign, who announced his retirement last week.
The email is at right.
Heller will appear on "Face to Face" this evening.

Heller is another Sharon Angle. Another angry tea bagger that will serve to serve the rich and continue the war on the middle class.

Job killing debt? Most economists point out that under the current economy and with interest rates so low, government borrowing is a non-issue related to job creation but it sounds good to the Tea Baggers. I've often wondered how there could be "balanced" federal budget? Unless of course the Republicans exempt the Dept. of Defense spending. If there was truly a balanced budget, how would Newt Gringrich pay for his call to bomb Libya? Probably cut some benefit program even further.
Heller is for amnesty, so he will have to defend his position against Angle.
Shelly would be smart to avoid this battle....
Are you kidding? Heller...He should be called Helen Keller for his blind, deaf, and dumb following of all the tripe of his party. Nevada needs someone who will actually try to help us get out of this mess...not a repeat of the pablum from Heller's past actions that show he can't help anyone in Las Vegas...He's only Angle with a better vocabulary...
So where are the Jobs? What jobs programs has Heller developed?
Heller can only complain but he hasn't proposed one single solution. He is a walking complaint machine.
To prevent failure, all a person has to do is NOTHING. That's why the GOP loves him.

We know who is destroying our economy and we know that the engine of destruction is liberalism. And we know that the stronghold of liberalism is in the Democrat Party. If we don't get the Senate out of Democrat control in 2012, our goose is cooked! It is the Harry Reid-led Democrat Senate which is the obstruction to progress and we all see, now, that the Democrat Party is the REAL "party of no".
To SunJon: The NEW GOP in the House is trying, don't you know? But they can't get their initiatives past the Harry Reid-led Democrat Senate. The GOP, of which Heller is a member, has proposed many good ideas to fix our economy, but you won't hear about them on MSNBC. All the good initiatives from the House will be destroyed in the Senate and/or the White House by LIBERALS, SunJon! Therein lies the problem, SunJon, not in Heller and the other Republicans. Nothing substantive will get done to fix the economy, SunJon, until we purge the Democrats from the Senate and the White House. We have a chance to do that in 2012. Will you help, or will you be an obstructionist like Harry Reid?
