That would blow a hole in the state budget. But David Roger, acting at the behest of the Clark County Commission, today sent a letter to Treasurer Kate Marshall demanding a refund.
I kid you not.
See letter at right.

Possession is 9/10ths of the law, at least the water authority never paid up to begin with. :)
Ought to be fun to watch this play out.
It looks to me like the Clark County Commission are having their lawyers make the requisite "demand" for return of county money wrongfully taken by the state. I expect the County to file suit against the State for clarification of this issue. Frankly, if the County wins such a court battle, it will be too bad for Nevadans, in terms of education and social services.
Clark County is the biggest waster to taxpaper dollars in the state, based in large part on the aggregiously high salaries and benefits of county employees, union or not. Cutting back on Clark County's wasteful spending is what most Clark County taxpayers want.
I don't agree with the County Counsel's interpretation of the application of the Clean Water Coalition opinion to all circumstances. I also don't agree with the County Counsel's implied interpretation of the Nevada Constitution on this issue.
So somebody better get a statewide ballot measure together making it very clear that the state can divert county tax revenues to the state, when the states need the cash.
My sister resides in Spring Valley and so do I. We pay property taxes in Clark County. We want our tax money spent in our community to benefit our children now and in the future. Clark County officials make sure you get all that is rightfully ours!!!!!!
This is gonna be great to watch. Here is what is gonna happen. The state will say no, the county will sue, and the courts will decide the funds and circumstances are different that the clean water coalition. And then the state will do the money grab dance big time next time. Gonna be great!
