Not only taking more money away from state employees, but also making them work the additional day for free, taking away the time the employees can use to get part time work to make up the difference in lost wages and benefits. Add too that the higher contribution rate to PERS, the loss of dental benefits, the doubling of medical deductible... and it goes on and on and on. No new revenue means the backs of the state workers will continue to bear the weight of all the cuts. Get ready Nevadans... it's going to be a looooong spring in the legislature.
Maybe a 100 percent cut and not having to work at all would be more to State employees' liking. I'm sure someone that has been out of work would be more than happy to take their job
Oh, how wonderful; having public employees take a five percent cut in their contracted employment agreements! Well, here is another idea for you Governor BS: Have all of the state's CONTRACTORS and SUPPLIERS take a five percent cut in their contracted agreements. Now isn't this a Fair and Balanced remedy?
It's not enough. Ask any small business owner in town if hey would like to take a 5% paycut from their best year and they'd jump on it.
And what is this "pension" thing you speak of. I think I want one too.
What the heck, let's just take the paycut of 5%, our retirement benefits are based on salary. Then, after the paycut is in place, we'll say it isn't enough and we'll bring furloughs back. What Sandoval SHOULD be doing is getting rid of many department heads, such as the head of the DOC, Baca, the warden at High Desert State Prison, a real lackluster leader who DOES NOT emphasize that management follow the rules, rather he singles out certain ones for 'special positions' and makes nearly half of biddable jobs NOT BIDDABLE but appointed. What's up with that, Warden? Why is it that an inmate was brought up from the sally port to the exit gates uncuffed last week? He was being turned over to another agency but it was ok, he was "only" a level 1. OMG, the attitudes of many of the CO's and mgmt, is utterly ridiculous and lack of enforcing the rules makes High Desert an unsafe place to work. Believe me, and you can take this to the bank, I will OWN THE STATE should anything happen to my relative. It's all documented and ready to go at any time. All the screw-ups, mistakes, unsafe conditions, it's all there. Is it time for a clean sweep at High Desert? Absolutely. Is it time to "retire" Skolnick? Sooner rather than later. Will Brian Sandoval get to this? Probably not. And that, is the sad part not only for my family, but for all the other people who work at High Desert and do things right. It is an unsafe environment - ask anybody who works there, they'll tell you, Governor! And the warden could care less-just keep that paycheck coming for Baca who is probably the biggest 'do nothing' EVER!!
