Those are the findings of a survey done for the retailers association by national GOP pollster Glen Bolger of 500 Nevadans who say they are likely to vote.
The survey, taken a week ago, shows Brian Sandoval only 6 percentage points ahead of Jim Gibbons; shows Tea Party hopeful Jon Ashjian helping Harry Reid but not putting him ahead of Sue Lowden; shows Lowden pulling away from Danny Tarkanian in the primary (UPDATE: Margin of error goes up to 7 percent in GOP primary matchups, so this assessment may be generous to Lowden); shows a startling 80 percent of Nevadans think the state is on the wrong track; and much, much more, including Nevadans being torn between raising taxes and cutting spending to fix the deficit.
The survey and some helpful graphs are posted at right.

Don't count Gibbons out. At lease he put a budget balancing plan togheher. It'll be interesting to see if the legislature can improve on it or just wine about it.
Gibbons tried last year to put the state on a path to survive. Instead the legislature passed on more and more expenses and now we are worse off than before. Let's give the Governor his due and keep him running the state. I really don't care one iota about his private life.
I'll give the Governor his due, Neiman.
He's a do-nothing, divisive, disingenuous, social degenerate who has clearly been BAD for Nevada.
His own PARTY has disowned him.
A statement proclaiming;
"I will not raise taxes. And that is a plan."
Neiman, I don't give a rip if you are for or against raising taxes. This is not a "PLAN."
It's a statement. And not even a factual one.
No, I think our "Education Governor" is DONE.
"I really don't care one iota about his private life."
Unless you're a rich guy, I'm sure the governor doesn't care about your life, either.
The law suit against Gibbons might peak as people go to the polls.
It isn't called out in any of the coverage I've seen, but look at Question 33, which asks whether the respondent would rather pay additional taxes personally or see state services cut.
Tax increases beat service cuts 47%-38% -- and if you add in all respondents who say they'd accept SOME tax increase, 54%.
My dog could have run on the same platform/plan Gibbons presented........My dog wouldn't raise taxes either.
It's an idiotic stance to run on, and amzing how many morons (like Neiman1) are swayed to think this is a real stance.
And my dog could have done the same job as Gibbons for about $240 in dog food, $40 in dog buscuits and $20 for some chewey toys.......the state could have saved Gibbons wasted salary and the idiology would be the same: No New Taxes!
Its time for Gibbons to exit stage right.
Who is this Assjian guy? I've heard he's a purveyor of asphalt and power drinks. Is he really a Teabagger or is he Reid's Fifth Columnist?
To clarify: A 3-year-old can be trained to say "no new taxes; cut budgets." That's hardly leadership, and it's hardly a plan. In the amount of time the governor has actually been in office, how many new industries has he attracted to Nevada to diversify its economy? How many plans has he had on the table in the past year or two that have been actively pursued in that time frame (and not merely discussed or recommended for committee)? How many additional revenue sources has he actively sought, year after year, so that we might not have gotten as badly into this mess in the first place? I'll agree, the legislature is hardly exempt from all of this. But to suggest that the governor is actually engaged in intelligent planning is an overstatement, to say the least.
Pants down Gibbons is DONE. "Tea party" no lets call it for what it really is the Klan (Lazy Cowards).
Self-Reliance will always win the day' Not Welfare Queens and Ghetto Daddys.
