In a handwritten letter to Cindy Hampton shortly after their affair began, one her husband says was written in the presence of U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn and others and one he called "the most important letter I have ever written," Sen. John Ensign says he used her "for my own pleasure," did not think of her family and "betrayed everything I believe in." He also wrote that he "justifed my actions because I blamed my wife." Doug Hampton said on "Face to Face," though, that within 24 hours of penning the missive, Ensign again was pursuing Cindy Hampton.
The letter is posted at right.

This type of non-sense you expect from men in their early 20s, not their late 50s.
He has humiliated his wife, betrayed the trust of Nevada voters, and impaired his ability to represent this state.
Not to mention he has given my beloved Republican Party another black eye.
It is time for him to go and for a new generation of Republican leadership to shine.
Bye bye Senator Ensign!
Just so I know when its safe to come back to the Sun website, how long do you guys plan to beat this dead horse? 3 more weeks? 6 more months? a year? Just want to know when I can come back and read some REAL NEWS.
Sometimes the Sun's editors and reporters get stuck on a non-story and run it into the ground. It's called "bad management" in business and the Sun needs to hire some good managers with horse sense.
Previous post sounds like something you might have read in the Washington Post circa 1975.
Sen. Ensign can best serve the people of NV by resigning NOW, instead of dragging it out Nixon-style. Anyone taking bets on whether he will be on the ballot in 2012?
dont blame ensign [bush], blame the media!
That was a typo on 1975, I meant 1973. The same thing then holds true today. "Follow the money". Hush money is still hush money. It's not the hypocrisy, it's not the sexual harassment, it's the unreported severance pay from Battle Born PAC & cushy jobs with Allegiant Air for both father & son. Or how about Coburn suggesting Ensign choke up millions of dollars in exchange for silence? Again, any takers on Ensign '12? He won't be on the ballot. This story is NOT going away until he does.
