Sierra Club hosting 10 green parties in Nevada

As part of Sierra Club's national Light Bulbs to Leadership campaign, the environmental group will host more than 200 house parties throughout the nation Thursday.

Sierra Club's Nevada offices will host 10 parties around the state, including seven in the Las Vegas Valley. Four of those parties are open to the public.

The Light Bulbs to Leadership campaign is designed to raise awareness and encourage action on global warming.

Partygoers will listen in on a national conference call featuring Green For All President Van Jones, Washington Governor Christine Gregoire and Sierra Club Executive Director Carl Pope. They'll talk about clean energy and green jobs.

Attendees will also be asked to write letters to Gov. Jim Gibbons urging him to take immediate steps to move Nevada toward a clean energy economy.

The public parties in Las Vegas begin at 6 p.m.
