A display on the murder of Bobby Kennedy is displayed at “Behind the Scenes: The LAPD Homicide Experience” Tuesday in the Palms. Kennedy was assassinated by Sirhan Sirhan June 5, 1968 at The Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles. The exhibit, a glimpse into some of the most notable homicides and critical incidents in Los Angeles in the past 100 years, coincides with the four- day California Homicide Investigators Association conference.

Quick notes as we plod toward the middle of the hump day:
• The already oft-discussed crime-evidence "Behind The Scenes" exhibit being staged at the Palms by the Los Angeles Homicide Department and the California Homicide Investigators Association has been drawn back because one family is upset about what is being exhibited. That family is the Kennedys.
One of the exhibits planned for the display, which opened Tuesday and runs through Friday, was to be the shirt, jacket and tie worn by Robert F. Kennedy the night he was shot at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles after winning the California Democratic presidential primary June 4, 1968.
Kennedy was mortally wounded by assailant Sirhan Sirhan while being led through the kitchen on his way out of the hotel. The display from that awful night had been taken down by the time the display formally opened Tuesday after members of the Kennedy family learned RFK's clothing, held by the LAPD, was intended for display.
"The last thing we want to do is traumatize a victim's family, and I am very sensitive to that," LAPD Chief Charlie Beck told the Los Angeles Times. "But at the same time, we want to preserve the history of the city of Los Angeles and improve the quality and understanding about our homicide investigations." A video exhibit of the crime is still in place.
• One of the candidates for Lieutenant Governor, Paul Murad, has corrected a way he has been described in this column. I've previously referred to him as a real-estate magnate, but he's actually — as he has claimed — a small-businessman. He's the president and CEO of Metroplex Group, which deals with brokerage, investing and construction in Las Vegas. "Magnate" came about because of the high-end dealings of his company, and also as a result of his appearance on the Bravo pass-the-popcorn guilty pleasure, "Millionaire Matchmaker."
As the title would suggest, magnates have permeated the show. Murad's appearance was memorable mostly because he proposed on the first date (and he is single, still), which had never happened before on the series. But the Democratic hopeful's campaign is a man-of-the-people effort, so he now prefers small-businessman. A question of semantics? You — you! — make the call.
• This morning on Fox 5's "More" show, anchors Monica Jackson, Claudine Grant and Rachel Smith were the subjects of a segment in which they were all made over to look like the women from "Jersey Shore." They snapped the gum, strutted in quick little steps in high heels, the whole nine. They really got into character, and on the set the three of them talked — at high volume and in that tinfoil-across-the-blackboard Jersey dialect — of the experience. Then the producers cut to Jason Feinberg and me, where we were going to detail Barry Manilow's new residency at Paris Las Vegas. If you've ever wondered what "stupefied" looks like, it happened this morning. The segment is on the Fox 5 "More" Web site (click here). Take it from The Circumstance, it was wild.
Update: Earlier today, Robert Kennedy's son Maxwell Taylor Kennedy told The New York Times, "This was obviously painful to me and to other members of my family It sends a message to victims of violent crime across the state that if you turn over evidence to the police, they may eventually put your most personal pain on stage at a Vegas casino.“

Didn't I see a lot of bloody stuff at the Smithsonian, involving Lincoln, etc. This exhibit, unlike "CSI" makes better more informed jurors and citizens. I wonder if the Kennedy's are as concern about artifacts related to Diem, or Patrice Lumumba?
First of all Bobby Kennedy was assassinated by someone other than Sirhan who was standing directly behind him in the Ambassador kitchen pantry that night. The coroner Naguchi found that the wound to the back of Kennedy's neck was caused by a muzzle only 2 to 3 inches away. SIRHAN NEVER GOT THAT CLOSE!! Sirhan was firing from the front approx. 3 to 4 ft away from Kennedy! Thane Ceaser a rent a security guard was standing directly behind Kennedy and was reported by several witnesses to have drawn his weapon and fired it during the shooting from Sirhan. Than Ceaser soon after got rid of his gun and lied about it.
<<directly behind Kennedy and was reported by several witnesses to have drawn his weapon and fired it during the shooting from Sirhan. Than Ceaser soon after got rid of his gun and lied about it.>>
Every witness said it was Sirhan. Caesar passed a polygraph with flying colors. Independent acoustic experts heard 8 shots and 8 shots only. All came from Sirhans gun. Also, Kennedy had turned to his left just as Sirhan sprang in to shoot him and got him in the back of the head. No witness ever testified that Caesar fired his gun. He drew it but never fired. It's been explored ad nauseum. Move on.
Gotta love the conspiracy theories. Good try enviro but BZZZZZZZZZZZZ
TomD1228 & vegasstudent :
You guys have not studied the conspiracy of this case closely enough. Read more about it..
A conspiracy theory promulgated by someone self described as eviron protector? What else would you expect. The shooter at the Pentagon yesterday turns out to be a follower of Van Jones' theory the government was behind 911. These left wing crack pots are all over the political stage.
neiman1 :
Why don't you tell us all what you know about the Bobby Kennedy Murder. I happen to be quite an expert on this subject, so I will grade you after.

You are correct! Anyone that has really looked at the fact's of this case clearly understands that there IS A COVER UP! Don't even waste your time trying to enlighten a couple of chimps that refuse to look at any evidence not presented by the Government and or Police.
As far as Abe Lincoln's bloody shirt and pillow. I'm not sure but I think most of Mr Lincoln's immediate family are dead.
Lisa M, you sound like a scorned woman. You need to grow up. You sound very bitter when talking about Paul Murad. Why dont you come out for air and keep your comments about the issues and not make them so personal.
In case you did not know, there have been many canidates and politicians with a pass be it hollywood or in this case reality show. If Paul being on a reality show is all you can come up with, then eat another donut!
As far as those project that never came to fuition....where have you been? It would have been a financial suicide fiasco to have proceeded with those projects. Still bitter about being unemployed are we?
Give me some real information and then we'll talk.
Paul Murad for LT. Gov!
@LisaM -
I really don't think that your arguments tread any water, because you seem to be obsessed with everything Paul Murad.
He's a business owner from Vegas, he's doing pretty good for himself and he did it on his own. What's wrong with that? I don't see any balance in the stuff that you're saying, because at the end of the day... people like hard workers.
I think your comments are really empty, because I checked out his website and I liked his story. Even got to shake his hand at Raising Canes the other day. He came from nothing and worked his way to the top, what's wrong with that? Do you have a problem with hard-working people?
Just my two cents.
