Another season for Las Vegas’ Onyx Theatre

One more season announcement today: Onyx Theatre, the most adventurous and unpredictable theater company in Las Vegas, has put together an intriguing 2008-09 season, starting August 21-September 6 with "The Little Dog Laughed," Douglas Carter Beane's hit Broadway comedy about Hollywood players.

Next up: Mac Wellman's play with an unprintable title (it's the one about right wing hypocrites), presented by Cockroach Theatre, September 19-Oct. 4 and "Dragula," a new twist on the horror classic by Onyx's Marko Westwood and John Beane, presented by Insurgo Theater Movement October 17-31.

Wait, there's more! An adaptation of Kafka's "The Metamorphosis," by Shawn Hackler, is presented by Insurgo November 7-22, followed not-so-coincidentally by Tracy Lett's "Bug," presented by Insurgo and Teatro Angst December 4-20.

Atlas Theatre Ensemble begins the new year with David Mamet's "American Buffalo" January 9-31, and Off-Strip Productions takes on Jerry Herman and Harvey Fierstein's Broadway musical "La Cage Aux Folles" April 24-May 16.

There's more, including a Sam Shepard play and "Reefer Madness" and Second Stage productions, at the Onyx Theatre website.
