It’s a shame Reggie Bullock isn’t playing Division-I football

Las Vegas Wildcats vs. Valley Vikings

Justin M. Bowen

Las Vegas High’s Reggie Bullock runs in his second touchdown of the night against Valley on Oct. 3. Despite posting some of the best rushing statistics in the state, Bullock will not head to a Division I program because of academic problems.

Yes, Reggie Bullock is this good.

The former Las Vegas High tailback has rushed for a combined 363 yards and six touchdowns during his initial two college games with Arizona Western College, a junior college in Yuma, Ariz.

Bullock’s breakout performance came on Sept. 5 when he rushed for 202 yards and two touchdowns in a 35-17 victory at Snow College of Ephraim, Utah. Bullock’s 96-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter put the finishing touches on Snow College’s first loss at home in 25 games, a streak that started in 2004 for the nation’s No. 4 ranked team.

Bullock was just getting started.

He rushed for 161 yards and four touchdowns on Sept. 12 in a 51-21 victory against Phoenix Junior College.

It’s a shame Bullock, who rushed for 1,701 yards and 22 touchdowns last fall for Las Vegas, has had such a hard time qualifying academically for a Division I school.

Here’s hoping he will eventually get the chance to shine on a bigger stage.
