Findlay College Prep point guard Cory Joseph has narrowed his collegiate wish list.
With guidance from Pilots coach Mike Peck, Joseph on Wednesday determined that he will visit Villanova on Oct. 23, and will likely check out Minnesota a week or two after that. Cory's brother, Devoe, is a Golden Gopher.
Cory Joseph has already visited Texas and he will go to Connecticut on Oct. 16.
In addition, Florida, UNLV and Mississippi State are on his final list. Recruits can make five official visits. With UNLV in Findlay's backyard, it's likely visits to the Rebels' headquarters will be unofficial. He visited the UNLV campus last season at least twice.
The recruiting service Rivals.com ranks Joseph, a 6-foot-3, 180-pound senior from the Toronto area, as the No. 7 national recruit in the Class of 2010.

Dude, stop TORTURING us with 'hope!'
He's not really serious about UNLV ...
Right????
ha, newyork, you just read that above, right? I'm not into torture man. Just reporting the facts, and this is right from the source not long after he made his decision. You have got to check him out this season, if not at his home games then out and about on the road. They're doing a lot of traveling, as usual, this season. Stay tuned
If we could roll back the clock a year or two, I would feverishly pursue Joseph. But with the roster as it is now, I truly believe we'd better served beefing-up the forward or center positions.
Before you start shooting arrows at me, please take the time to view footage of the Enes Kanter, the new Findlay Prep Big. All I can say is, wow! Now, picture Kanter on the floor alongside Stanback, Jasper, Thomas or any other combination you want to throw out there. I'm telling you, no one in the Mountain West could match-up with that.
I agree, Joseph is a heck of a talent but we have a host of guards I believe will do great things. Is it November yet?
Rob, this is without question 'torture'. And for multiple reasons: UNLV Football is over as per usual for this time of year, a #7 prospect leaving us on his final list. But maily because it spurs conversation about future lineups, and for me, 2 months away might as well be 2 years.
Can't wait to see who Kruger puts on the floor.
KANTER went back to Europe after one week, guy. Where have you been?
If he's serious about UNLV where's the official visit? I think the kid's FOS he just wants to keep local fans on the hook.
Thanks Lenny - old age, too many hours, and not enough leisure time. That's too bad as I really wanted to watch him this year. I'd go for the money too!
Fast, yep, torture indeed. But savor all these days before hoops tips off. It's always my belief that the season goes way too fast, so, enjoy all the drama and build-up.
Lenny, wrong. Cory loves Kruger's style of play. CJ thrives on defense, and that's No. 1 at UNLV. Moreover, he likes Kruger's offensive systems. He's been there twice, unofficially. And with the Rebels in his backyard, he doesn't have to burn an official AND he can go there on his own volition whenever he wants. All the advantages are Joseph's. Plus, he's a straight-up kid. He would not dangle a program along if he were not genuinely interested in it.
Ok that's cool, Rob but, BUT I thought you said not too long ago that we shouldn't get our hopes up about him coming to UNLV.
Smitty, I was looking forward to seeing Kanter too. Rob, what happened there? No one has done a story on why Kanter bolted after only a week in town.
Thats because supposedly Kanter play some pro ball in Europe and that might set some red flags if he did play. That would be an unfair advantage and Coach Peck had to do something and Kanter had to leave...
hey hey Lenny, whether people are going to get their hopes up or not is not up to me. I'm going off what Cory tells me. Read into that however you want. At the moment, UNLV fans should be quite happy that he is still considering the Rebels.
Texas has A LOT going in its favor with him. Avery Bradley is there. Tristan is going there, as is Myck Kabongo. That's a big built-in support system. Maybe, just maybe, Cory wants to carve his own path. There are a lot of guards at UNLV, no doubt. But Kruger has shown he'll play combinations and, more importantly, he's going to play those who deserve the minutes.
I was a big surprised Louisville fell by the wayside.
As far as Kanter, he was barely here a week. Big deal. Doesn't deserve much ink or internet space, does it? But look for some info here, in this space, a little bit later.
thanks guys
Lenny and Chav, Findlay had done a lot of due diligence in just getting Kanter here in the first place.
Officially, he left due to unforeseen circumstances beyond both parties' control, and it was in the best interest of both parties for them to part ways.
Ultimately, Peck won a national championship last season with nine players, and his roster is now at nine. It's full of new and dynamic players, with a fantastic rudder in Joseph, and practices are impressive. Maybe it's a long shot, but Peck might be getting a 7-footer from Congo.
Stay tuned. We'll keep you cats posted on all Findlay developments.... thanks
Thanks for the updates Rob, as always you're doing a great job. And I like what you're saying about Cory, it sounds like we really are a chance to get him! :)
I think the PITINO scandal probably put him off UofL. Ask him if he's got a gf that might be the secret weapon to keeping him in Vegas haha
Lenny, don't know about the gf ... however, I did ask Cory about Pitino a few weeks ago and Cory was pretty professional about it. He said, hey, things happy and people get themselves into situations. All that being said, it was interesting, to say the least, that Louisville didn't make the cut.
Regardless of how anyone feels about the 'morality' of Pitino's actions, from a practical perspective he's definitely on the hot seat at UL.
They've paid him $2 million dollars or more per year for 8 years now and have gotten all of 1 Final Four from the deal. Add in a really ugly scandal, and I'll bet there's some serious buyer's remorse at UL right now.
I'm sure they expected more from Pitino when they signed him.
I wouldn't be feeling too good about putting $16 million in Slick Rick's pockets if he were coaching UNLV and only getting a single Final Four in return.
