Findlay improves to 16-0 without Rudd

Findlay College Prep basketball coach Mike Peck was most impressed that his Pilots racked up 26 assists Saturday afternoon in an 85-51 victory at Canyon Springs High.

“It was fun to watch,” Peck said after Findlay improved to 16-0.

D.J. Richardson, the 6-foot-3 guard that will play at Illinois next fall, led the way with 18 points, and Texas-bound guard Avery Bradley chipped in with 16.

Victor Rudd, a high-flying 6-7 forward who will make an official visit to UNLV next Saturday when the Rebels play host to Wyoming, suited up but did not play in the game.

Peck said Rudd violated a team policy, it’s an undisclosed team issue and that Rudd will suit up and play against Lake Mead Christian on Tuesday night.

Rudd told the Sun he also will visit Arizona and Marquette.

Power forward Godwin Okonji had 15 points, and guards Cory Joseph and Issiah Grayson added 12 apiece.

Findlay is ranked second in USA Today’s national Super 25 poll, which will be updated Tuesday. Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei tops that poll.
