No. 2 Findlay squeaks out win, improves to 13-0

Findlay College Prep escaped with a 59-53 victory over Richmond (Ind.) New Creations on Friday night in Lexington, Ky.

Victor Rudd powered the Pilots, ranked second in the recent USA Today national Super 25 prep poll, with 20 points and 12 rebounds.

Rudd, an unsigned 6-foot-7 versatile forward who is a thrilling finisher and an accurate 3-point shooter, told the Sun he will choose between UNLV, Gonzaga and Arizona by the end of the month.

Texas-bound guard Avery Bradley chipped in with 17 points.

Findlay (13-0) belted New Creations, 113-78, at the Henderson International School, with which the Pilots are affiliated, on Nov. 14.

“A very off night,” Findlay assistant coach Todd Simon said of Friday’s game. “Looked like we were running in quicksand.”

The Pilots play Durham (N.C.) Mount Zion tonight in their second game of the Humana Basketball Classic.

Findlay returns home to play host to Eldorado High at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
