Findlay rolls over Desert Pines, 114-81

Findlay College Prep coach Mike Peck had reasons to be concerned about a game at Desert Pines High on Thursday night – 115 of them.

Peck scouted the Jaguars on Tuesday night and watched them score 115 points.

Even after Findlay’s 114-81 victory over Desert Pines, Peck had rave reviews about the Jaguars.

“They’ll be one of the top teams in the city,” Peck said.

The Pilots (7-0) showed why they’re one of the top teams in the country.

They’re ranked third in this week’s USA Today Super 25 national prep poll, and Texas-bound sharpshooter Avery Bradley scored a game-high 34 points.

“I helped my team win and was a team player,” Bradley said. “Every game is a big game for us. Like I said before, we have a bull’s-eye on our backs in every game.”

D.J. Richardson, the guard who will play for Illinois next season, added 18 points for the Pilots. Carlos Lopez, the UNLV-bound power forward, had 15 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Issiah Grayson chipped in with 12.

Pierre Jackson led Desert Pines (3-2) with 32 points.

“That kid’s scary,” Peck said. “All five of their starters are quick, can dribble and can pass. They’ll be very good this season.”

Findlay plays host to Green Valley on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. in the Henderson International School gym.
