A sigh of relief

Among the 40,000 Southern Nevadans undergoing procedures at the Endoscopy Center of Southern Nevada in the last four years, as revealed on tonight's program, was one Jon Ralston. We're breathing easier now that Jon's test results are back and all is good.

But that's not the case for Las Vegan Michael Washington who was told he contracted Hepatitis C at the center. On tonight's program Washington reveals the timeline reported in the RJ this weekend was incorrect. Washington didn't learn his fate until October and found out in late December he was part of a cluster. I'm still not clear on how long the doctors at the center knew of multiple infections before notifying authorities. Stay tuned.

On the marital front: No word out of the Governor's Mansion yet on the fate of the Gibbons' union. Hugh Jackson (lasvegasgleaner.com) and Republican operative Steve Wark discuss tonight why the potential break up is a story. The way I see it, the Gibbons sold themselves as a two-for-one deal so the possible end of their joint governance is significant. So what if they often split on policy? Happens all the time even in the best marriages. Just ask Hillary Clinton about NAFTA.

Jon told me some Republicans are suggesting Gibbons step down due to marital discord.

Soooo, forget all those other allegations: that Gibbons, a Mormon, drank, manhandled a cocktail waitress and told her marriage wasn't all it was cracked up to be; kept an illegal immigrant as an indentured servant; is under federal investigation for granting no-bid government contracts to friends; made wacky appointments to state government and... what am I forgetting? Oh, skirted House rules on his legal defense fund. Nevermind all that. But divorce!

Not appearing on today's program - Gibbons' political consultant Sig Rogich. Rogich says he's not talking about the couple's marital discord. At least not yet.
