Spitzer to quit Monday

Gov. Eliot Spitzer said Wednesday in a brief press conference that he will step down from his position as the governor of New York on Monday, March 17. Lt. Gov. David Paterson will then take the position and become the state's first black governor.

Spitzer, now known as "Client-9", said that he was deeply sorry he did not live up to what was expected of him and said that he will try once again to serve the common good outside of politics. His wife, Silda, was by his side.
