LA Times writer Steve Springer muses that Las Vegas in July is the place to be ... if you're a lizard, cactus plant or a basketball fan. Springer writes that Las Vegas has learned to attract hoops fans of all ages with such attractions as the upcoming NBA Summer League, which starts Friday, and the U.S. men's Olympic team, which will train for four days, beginning July 21 at a local high school and play an exhibition game against Canada on July 25 at Thomas & Mack.
