Ensign to have dinner with Obama

UPDATED at 7:14 p.m.

That event at the White House tonight is even more bipartisan than initially understood: Democrats are there, too.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid stopped in with his wife, as did other Democratic leaders.

Looking forward to a full report.

WASHINGTON — Sen. John Ensign has dinner plans tonight, with Barack Obama.

The senator is among several Republicans from the House and Senate invited to a social gathering with the new president at the White House.

That new spirit of bipartisanship is really taking hold. Obama had lunch yesterday with Republicans and now tonight's event.

Ensign assured there would be no serious policy or politics this evening, just socializing. Really.

  1. Having dinner is Bipartisanship........come on, are you really serious in thinking this is an article.

Our country is at war, has a failed economy and the House just passed an idiotic bill.

What are they having PORK ribs. This is absurd reporting at its finest.

  2. Well let's see if Sen. Ensign can bring something to the table besides sour grapes. What happened to doing what is right for America instead of what's right for the party and the next election. Wake up PORK ribs getalife, at least the President is trying.

  3. Trying, you call having dinner trying, man are we screwed.

Obama wants to look bi-partisan, but who's kidding who?

  4. (Note to Michelle from Barack: Honey, count the silverware before and AFTER dinner. And hide the kids; preferably somewhere in the other wing where you can find 'em later.)
