WASHINGTON — It was only a matter of time after the rocky start to this Congress that conversation would begin anew: Is Harry Reid good or bad for the Dems?
That was the question Politico posed today to its regular commentators, while the Washington Post writes about Reid’s “shoot-from-the-hip” style.
The answers offer a mixed bag, even after the Roland Burris brouhaha, with Reid getting electoral props for boosting Democrats numbers in the Senate, and dinged for his often wild shooting style.
Conventional wisdom just can’t seem to grasp the one recurring theme, put succinctly by Rutgers political science professor Ross Baker in Politico, about Reid: “his Democratic colleagues love him.”
