Reid on ‘Meet the Press’

WASHINGTON -- Tune in Sunday morning when Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is scheduled to be a guest on “Meet the Press” as the 111th Congress is about to begin.

Reid is expected to discuss the economic stimulus package Congress hopes to have passed and waiting for President-elect Barack Obama shortly after he’s sworn in Jan. 20, his own re-election campaign as well as the escalating drama over Obama’s successor in the Senate.

It's rare for Reid to hit the Sunday talk show circuit. He tends to shy away from such appearances.

But don't worry if you miss the morning show -- it rebroadcasts later in the day.

  1. Oh wonderful...another embarassing moment for NevaDUH as Boss Reid stutters and sputters.

Maybe David Gregory will ask the Boss why he is spending all his time on not seating Burris (with armed guards no less!) instead of trying to find out how $350 BILLION in bailout funds disappeared into thin air with no questions asked.

  2. Gregory: Senate Majority Leader Reid could you please explain why the bailout isn't working.

Reid: Well, first of all let me blame President Bush for blah, blah, blah and secondly let me blame somebody else for blah, blah, blah.

Gregory: Well Senator thats fine but could you answer the question, specifically and without blaming an opponent, just telling us what you are going to do about it.

    Reid: (complete silence)

    Gregory: Senator, Senator!!

    Reid: A duh, duh, duh

This guy and his entire family have got to be run out on a rail before they further embarass nevada with Rory becoming Governor

  3. Yes Harry, we know.....you and Nancy want more money for the California Hollywood Stars and all the Las Vegas Californians who ran from California with their profits from their million dollar houses they sold a couple years ago. And now the Californians complain while living in Vegas about how this State is being run and they still have not switched their licence plates over to Nevada (And every other State that has moved there, thought that was a $500 fine). It's all my fault Harry, I'm sorry. I'm sorry I voted for you and don't even care about your pro-mining record anymore, your just remind me of the other idiots that call themselves leaders, like Nancy P., the Governor of Illinois, the ex-Governor of New York, that weird Senator from Mass........etc.

  4. And Harry, don't forget to mention that the "Approval Ratings for Congress" is down to 18% (see Gallup Poll). Your making the President look good Harry, thanks.

  5. I understand that there are some Democrats, including US Senators, that are not very happy with the leadership that Reid has shown in US Senate.

  6. "...some Democrats, including US Senators, that are not very happy with the leadership that Reid has shown..."

Count me in. But I'm torn. He's from Nevada and therefore is in a position to represent us well on that level. Yet he seems pastel. Nothing strong. I want him to lead, but never have a sense that he really does. If only there was Viagra for leadership...

  7. Here's the real reason why Boss Reid won't seat Burris - He's not Harry's hand-picked Senator http://www.suntimes.com/news/metro/blago...

Per the article, the Boss would have seated either "Veterans Affairs chief Tammy Duckworth or Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan" as he strongly pushed Blago ON SEVERAL OCCASSIONS for their appointment.

Which raises the question: Is Burris "tainted" any more than Duckworth or Madigan if they had been appointed by Blago per Reids's demands - OR - is this really a matter of Boss Reid not getting his way in what should have been a purely Illinois matter?

Here the evidence is overwhelming that it is not the appointing by Blago per se that is is question. It is the appointing by Blago against Reid's demands that is causing all this furor.

  8. Reid has done some good things either as the majority leader or the minority leader.

During his reign, we got two new excellent Supreme Court judges.

He help get the original Iraq War resolution passed.

He properly did not try to get a bill pass that called for the immediate removal of US troops in Iraq.

FISA was recently re-authorize with a few changes.

He properly resisted a push for impeach or other conduct other "criminal" investigations of Bush and his adminstration.

He joined hands with Bush and worked hard to get a bailout bill passed for those elite financial institutions.

He has not tried to pass a law to shut-down GITMO and he has not tried to pass a law to give full American legal rights to those at GITMO. In fact, he helped pass a law that gave legislative authority for the Bush adminstartion to conduct military tribunals for the bad guys at GITMO that specifically excluded right of Habeas Corpus.

    Reid is all right.

  9. Watching this man squirm in his chair - over the MTP question on his statement declaring the war in Eye'raq (western pronunciation) LOST! While we had troops on the ground, was one of the most pathetic examples I have witnessed in 3 decades.
HR kept saying "Listen""that is an arrogant choice of verbiage and it just demonstrates this loser's mentality.

Do not get me started on his - lighting of candle - to that murderer Joseph Smith.

  10. Reid isn't very smooth, but if it had been a bumbling George Bush in the hot seat on Meet the Press, I suspect that many of the people criticizing Reid on this blog would have been making excuses for Bush's performance. Reid bumbled through his response regarding the question on Iraq, but it is Bush's eight years of bumbling that has brought us the mess this country is now in.

Reid should have stood by his original comment that the war in Iraq is lost. That case can still be made given the continuing violence, rising influence of Iran and the tremendous cost of the war in lives and dollars.

  11. holdencaulfield.....is that your solution to keeping this Country the leader of the free World? Did you vote for the next "Leader" of the free World? I hope so, if not that will be good for you, because you will have someone to blame the world unstabilities on. Use the brain in your head that God gave you and do something productive. If Harry can't stand up for himself then, so be it. I know a real leader makes hard decisions, right or wrong and moves on to the next crisis and always backs his/her Country. I will support any President who is elected to these United States of America. If you don't have anything more to contribute than insulting the "President of the United State", I suggest you seek help before someone with your same unproductive lifestyle decides to teach you some respect for the men/women that sacrify their lifes in public service to make your Country better.
