WASHINGTON - Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said tonight that the Senate will take up an amended version of the $700 billion bailout bill when Congress returns late Wednesday.

"This is the best way to move forward," Reid said.

The Republican Leader, Sen. Mitch McConnell, agreed.

"This is one of the finer moments in the Senate," McConnell said, calling the legislation "a way forward to get a result we need to achieve for the American people."
