Sniffing around for an alternative to the Super Bowl?
Animal Planet is retrieving its ratings-champion Puppy Bowl, three hours of dog-eat-dog football played by 14 shelter puppies on a miniature field, airing four times on Super Bowl Sunday (at noon, 3, 6 and 9 p.m. and midnight) on the cable channel. The show, which features a "Bowl-Cam" and penalties for "illegal motions" on the field, will be shown in HD for the first time this year.
The halftime show: kittens! (Tom Petty has nothing on this gang of fur.)
The ferocious starting lineup includes Attucker (beagle), Mrs. Roper (Labrador/Rottweiler mix) and Jack (a mini Dachshund who is not to be underestimated).
