The year 1989 was a vintage year for the birth of vintage music bands — groups giving new life to old sounds of swing.
Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. Cherry Poppin’ Daddies. Royal Crown Revue.
BBVD played Vegas last year. CPD hasn’t been here in awhile. RCR will perform at the Palms at 7, 9 and 11 p.m. Thursday and Friday, April 10-11.
The free shows will be in The Lounge.
The RCR Horn section backed Bette Midler on her top-grossing 2003-2005 "Kiss My Brass" tour. Trumpeter Scott Steen was Bette's featured soloist.
In addition to Steen, the current band includes founders Eddie Nichols (vocals) and Mando Dorame (tenor sax) plus Jim Jedeikin (baritone/alto sax), Mark Cally (guitar), Dave Miller (bass) and Daniel Glass (drums).
