The Sun's top 30 players in Las Vegas minor league history

On this the 30th anniversary of Las Vegas' Triple-A team coming to town, the Las Vegas Sun has ranked the top 30 players in franchise history.

The Las Vegas Stars debuted in 1983 at sparkling new Cashman Field, giving our quaint town a real professional sports team to cheer for. Now, three decades later, the Las Vegas 51s are still playing at Cashman Field. And, more importantly, still giving locals a great escape each spring and summer.

The rankings were determined on three factors — success while playing for the Las Vegas franchise, success afterward and contributions to the Las Vegas community. The list was compiled by Sports Editor Ray Brewer with assistance from officials at the 51s. It's open for much debate and doesn't include Hall of Famers such as Tony Gwynn and Roberto Alomar, both of which had a cup of coffee with the team in the 1980s before shining in the big leagues.
