Letter to the Editor:

Oust unserious elected officials

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., said she believes Monday’s total solar eclipse was a sign from God: “God is sending America strong signs to tell us to repent.”

The last total solar eclipse visible from North America was in 2017, just seven months after Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration.

Not only have humans been calculating the recurrence of solar eclipses for thousands of years, but many ancient cultures predicted these events mathematically using what Anthony Aveni, a pioneer of archeoastronomy and professor emeritus at Colgate University, calls the “six-five beat.”

That’s a lot of repenting.

Greene also said on Steve Bannon’s War Room podcast, “The Ukrainian government is attacking Christians; this is a war against Christianity.”

Since Russia’s full-scale invasion over two years ago, at least 660 churches and other religious structures, including at least 206 Protestant ones, have been destroyed. That includes 94 Pentecostal churches, 60 Evangelical Christian Baptist churches and 27 7th Day Adventist churches.

These churches were built and existed peacefully and unmolested in Ukraine. They operated under the auspices of the Ukrainian government until Putin invaded.

This bilge will only end if decent-minded, lucid people turn out in November and relieve our country from the daily blitz of the non-thinking, conspiracy-believing zealots who pose as Republicans.
