If elected, there is little doubt that Trump’s priority will be pardoning himself, his co-defendants and the insurrectionists who caused deaths and injuries at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.
In the event that happens, no one would be held legally responsible for all the crimes, carnage and damage caused by Trump and his fellow culprits.
To deter crime and instill responsibility in those found guilty of a serious crime, imprisonment and/or restitution is appropriate. With 91 criminal charges, Trump is a good candidate for either. If not, how can justice be achieved if everyone culpable gets a free pass?
Trump is a narcissist, and one characteristic of narcissism is a sense of entitlement. If Trump pardons himself and his co-culprits, what would prevent him from committing future crimes and doling out future undeserved pardons, all to the continuing detriment of this nation?
