Micah Alejado completed 9 of 11 passes for 217 yards and two touchdowns tonight for the Bishop Gorman football team in a 56-12 victory against Desert Pines to secure the Class 5A Southern League championship.
Alejado, the reigning state player of the year, has completed nearly 80% of his passes on the season. He’s passed for 26 touchdowns — and hasn’t been intercepted.
His touchdown passes tonight went to Brandon Gaea, who had a pair of receptions for 68 yards, and to Derek Meadows on a 12-yard scoring strike.
Gorman rushed for five touchdowns, including six carries for 105 yards and two scores from DeVon Rice. Myles Norman had five carries for 59 yards and a score.
The win against Desert Pines wasn’t Gorman’s only victory tonight.
In California, St. John Bosco beat Mater Dei, the nation’s No. 1 ranked team, 28-0 to pave the way for Gorman to likely move into the top spot.
Gorman concludes the regular season next week against Coronado.
