Davion Duncan scored on each side of the ball tonight for the Valley High football team in a 27-12 win against Western, scooping up a fumble and racing for a defensive touchdown, and adding an 80-yard scoring run.
Valley led 14-0 at halftime in the class 3A opener for each school, then committed three turnovers in the third quarter to allow Western to trim the deficit to two points.
“This is one of the ones we had to fight through,” Valley coach Quincy Burts said. “We are such a young team; we are learning how to win games. This was a tough win. This is what helps build the team.”
Deandre Gholar had a touchdown reception from Tyler Searcy, Tarrell Mack-Lovely had an interception, and Elijay Lee had five sacks.
