An 80-year-old woman has died from injuries suffered in a two-vehicle crash this morning in North Las Vegas, police said.

The accident occurred about 5:45 a.m. at the intersection of Decatur Boulevard and Lone Mountain Road.

According to police, the woman was driving a 1996 Nissan Maxima eastbound on Lone Mountain Road and tried to make a left turn onto Decatur Boulevard. She was struck as she turned in front of a 2007 Chrysler sedan, driven by a 22-year-old Las Vegas resident, traveling westbound on Lone Mountain Road, police said.

The woman was taken to University Medical Center's trauma unit, where she died about three hours after the accident, police said.

The driver of the Chrysler suffered minor injuries.

The accident forced a temporary closure of Decatur Boulevard this morning.

Police said drugs and alcohol are not believed to be a factor in the accident, and the driver of the Chrysler is not expected to face charges.

This is the eighth fatal crash in North Las Vegas this year.
