A woman was arrested in connection with DUI this morning after police say her pickup truck hit a pedestrian walking on Las Vegas Boulevard at the south end of the Strip.

Metro Police responded at 12:03 a.m. to Las Vegas Boulevard and Four Seasons Drive, where authorities say a 1998 Ford F-150 pickup truck had been northbound in the right lane. A witness told police a man was walking in a designated crosswalk from the east curb to the west curb, but left the crosswalk at its midpoint to walk northeast toward a bus stop.

The pedestrian was in the right travel lane and jaywalking when he was struck by the pickup truck, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The name of the pedestrian, who was from Las Vegas, will be released by the Clark County Coroner's Office.

Police said the driver of the Ford, identified as Aleesha C. Daly, 28, of Las Vegas, failed field sobriety tests at the scene and was booked into the Clark County Detention Center in connection with DUI.

This is the 26th traffic-related fatality this year in Metro Police jurisdiction.
