Approximate area of crash

A rollover accident early Sunday in a desert area east of the Las Vegas Valley ejected five people from a vehicle, killing three of them, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

The Clark County Coroner's Office identified one of the victims as 18-year-old Omar Jimenez, of Las Vegas. The identities of the other two victims haven't been released.

Trooper Joseph Fackrell said the single-vehicle accident occurred about 3 a.m. on State Route 147 at mile marker 40, which is near Pabco Road.

A white Chevrolet vehicle drove off the road and overturned, ejecting the five occupants, Fackrell said. Three were pronounced dead at the scene, he said.

The two others were taken to University Medical Center's trauma unit, where their conditions are unknown, Fackrell said.

It's unclear what caused the accident, he said. The investigation is ongoing.
